Associate | Tax & Litigation

Gvantsa Ghvinashvili is an Associate in BLC’s Tax and Litigation practices. She has been engaged in legal practice since 2017 and joined BLC in 2023. Her practice focuses on tax law, corporate law, financial transactions, and the representation of clients before courts and administrative bodies in corporate, tax, and administrative disputes.

Gvantsa advises clients on complex tax and corporate matters, including Georgian tax implications related to commercial transactions, intangible assets, international taxation, and structuring. She also assists clients with contract law matters and provides legal support in disputes involving tax and administrative authorities.

Before joining BLC, Gvantsa gained extensive experience within the Revenue Service of Georgia. She served as a tax lawyer in the Legal Department and later as a tax specialist in the Dispute Resolution Department. In this role, she developed strong insight into taxation matters, tax administration, dispute resolution procedures, and the approach of Georgian tax authorities. In recent years, she represented the tax authority before the Council of Dispute Resolution under the Ministry of Finance of Georgia.

Representative Experience
  • Represented a client in a high-value tax dispute involving approximately GEL 80 million.
  • Represented a client in a tax dispute concerning transfer pricing and tax matters in the energy sector.
  • Represented a client before all court instances in Georgia in a tax dispute involving approximately GEL 20 million, concerning the taxation of enterprises operating in a free industrial zone.
  • Advised and represented a client before administrative authorities and Georgian courts on taxation matters relating to Virtual Asset transactions.
  • Advised clients on transactions in the IT sector, including the assessment of applicable tax and regulatory implications, and assisted with the process of obtaining relevant preferential tax status or other beneficial status available to qualifying IT businesses.
  • Advised multiple clients seeking to invest in Georgia on investment regulation, tax planning and optimal investment structuring, including the identification of suitable jurisdictions for investment into Georgia.
  • Advised clients on transactions under FARA and similar legislation, including grant-related regulatory considerations.
  • Prepared legal analyses concerning intangible assets, international taxation and cross-border tax matters, including the application of Georgian tax legislation to complex commercial structures.
  • Advised on corporate and contractual law matters, including the assessment and analysis of legal and tax risks arising from commercial agreements.
  • Assisted clients in communications with tax authorities, including the preparation of legal positions, responses and arguments in relation to tax audit acts and administrative proceedings.
  • Advised clients on a broad range of contractual arrangements in light of applicable double tax treaties, including the assessment of treaty-based tax treatment and related cross-border tax implications.
  • Advised clients on the taxation of financial transactions, as well as on the tax consequences arising from the acquisition and disposal of shares and immovable property.
