Tamta Ivanishvili is a Partner and Director at BLC Law Office, where she leads the firm’s Corporate and Finance Practice. Bringing nearly two decades of legal experience, she joined BLC in 2008, was named Partner in 2020, and assumed the role of Director in 2026.
Her practice spans corporate and commercial law, capital markets, financial regulation, cross-border investment structuring, and financing. Drawing on extensive experience across these areas, Tamta advises clients on the structuring, negotiation, and execution of complex domestic and international transactions. She is recognized by The Legal 500 as a leading lawyer in Georgia’s capital markets sector. Tamta also plays an active role as a lead expert in the development and implementation of legislative reforms in financial regulation, including key contributions to establishing Georgia’s legal framework for securitisation and reforming the country’s insolvency system.
A particular focus of her practice is FinTech, where Tamta is at the forefront of Georgia’s rapidly evolving financial technology landscape. She has advised numerous Payment Service Providers (PSPs), Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs), and other FinTech companies on licensing and registration with the National Bank of Georgia, regulatory compliance, product structuring, and market entry. Beyond her advisory work, Tamta is actively involved in high-profile international and domestic arbitration as well as litigation, working alongside BLC’s Dispute Resolution Team on complex corporate and administrative cases.
- Advised corporate and financial institution clients on structuring cross-border investments and complex capital markets transactions in Georgia, including the issuance of various capital instruments.
- Advised major global and regional FinTech entities, including leading international Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) and Payment Service Providers (PSPs), on registration, licensing, and regulatory compliance with the National Bank of Georgia.
- Advised banks, borrowers and investors on collateralising debt financing and on structuring equity financing mechanisms.
- Led numerous financing transactions involving international financial institutions, including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and others.
- Represented clients in large-scale international arbitration proceedings and served as arbitrator in a number of complex domestic commercial disputes.
- Acted as a lead policy expert on legislative reform initiatives in Georgia, including the development of the securitisation framework, reform of the insolvency framework and the establishment of a deposit insurance system.
